Meet Noelle! (Olivia/Sir Andrew Aquecheek!)
HSC audiences will sure recognize Noelle. She is the company's Managing Director and has been around the company artistically since 2007 as both an actor and director. However, we might start to see less of her as she embarks on a new career of a Special Ed teacher! However, how much do you REALLY know about Noelle, even though you've seen her in shows? In this hilarious romp, Noelle plays the Countess Olivia and the silly, nerdy Sir Andrew Aquecheek. Read all about Noelle!
Q. Where are your originally from and what do you love most about your hometown?
NOELLE: I’m originally from a suburb just outside of Washington DC in Maryland called Gaithersburg. I love my home state! We’re surrounded by water via the Chesapeake Bay and Ocean coastline, so I love anything having to do with water: boating, crabbing, swimming….and, like any good Maryland girl, I love crabs (with Old Bay and a Corona)
Q. In Twelfth Night, twins Viola and Sebastian are shipwrecked on a strange island. What three things would you want to have with you if you were stranded on a desert island?
NOELLE: I journal, number one. I imagine a lot of crazy things would occur while stranded, so I’d want to record them. Plus, writing is always cathartic. A camera. I would there would be some beautiful landscapes and exotic animals – you need to capture it all! And lastly, music. I don’t know how one can live without it.
Q, Many of the characters in Twelfth Night talk about their clothes and style of dress0 - how do you define your personal style? Describe it for us.
NOELLE: Well, I guess I’d like to think I HAVE a style, but perhaps I don’t. I like comfort. Practically all of my things are from Old Navy. But I also like classy and simple. I usually can be seen wearing skinny jeans, riding boots, and a tunic or some sort. I do like accessories like chunky bracelets and big necklaces, but don’t get to wear them as often as I would like because of my job.
Q.. You, the actors, will constantly be changing roles and genders within the show - what do you think you'd be like as the opposite gender?
NOELLE: Oh man – I imagine I’d be a lot like my boy cousins. I’d play every sport imaginable, I’d drink beer, watch the game on Sunday’s, but also have a nerdy spot for Marvel movies and action flicks.
Q.. Twelfth Night features lots of music - who is your favorite band or singer? What is your favorite song by them?
NOELLE: You know, I’m really attracted to world music. I love the joy of an Indian Banghra dance, the richness in a Persian love song, the fantasy world created by Icelandic artists, the mystery of Irish music, and the percussion of African drums. I just really enjoy it! I don’t know that I have a favorite, but I will share a popular Icelandic artist – Evior Pasdottir.
